Hi guys

Just doing some research at the moment.
Am considering moving out to the middle east - not saudi - more dubai / qatar / bahrain / oman etc type area.
I've got 2 pre-school kids and a wife who is a solicitor (high st, not city / commercial) who would still want to work.
Anyone got any comments on family life out there, likelyhood of spouses finding work, or can recommend a good resource to research such things.

Thanks

Ok instead of making a new thread i'll post it here.

I know it is not a good time to apply for a job in the middle east but i have small question about the recruiting proces .

Do you need experience in flying in the middle east? Is that a important issue? I have experience but that is mainly in europe and africa.

Thx

Dear 'Star,
I agree with the web recommendations of Piccolo and Lucky.
Family life in Dubai can be great or it can be hell.
Depending on what you want, you can get a lot out of life here.
If you correctly handle the driving situation, then most of your problems are solved.
Personally I try to keep it simple, with the kid's school a stone's throw away and wife's office close by as well. A couple of malls and food stores are easily accessable.
You DON'T want to end up in Garhood with the kid's going to school by MOE and wife working in Jebel Ali.
A small bubble makes for an easy life here. Get your wife working.
Stay off the roads at all costs.
Good Luck.

To my understanding getting a job in here requires a good combination of networking, experience and luck. The experience means you'll need to bring far much hours than required in other countries to fly similar machines, and a Type Rating saving some $ to whoever will employ you is almost a must.

Good luck.
