Peter is well known by most seasoned water pilots in the Oz seaplane scene after decades flying the Australian coastal waterways in many states.

Then leaving Australia on a two year adventure flying J-34, the Mallard he loved so much in a tour around the world, before settling down in Vancouver, Canada flying the west coast for about the last 5 years.

Here he ‘settled down’ with his partner Lynn.

Pete sadly passed away on16th Nov 2008 in a fatal Grumman Goose accident near Vancouver, BC, Canada.

A memorial seat in memory for Peter will be in Vancouver on the river where some ashes have been spread and some of his ashes will be laid to rest with family members in Australia.

Peter will be very missed by so many. It was so very sudden and unexpected.

The details for Peter's Australian services are as follows on Saturday 31 January 2009.
All of Peter’s friends are welcome at both events with the main memorial service in the after noon.

9:30am will be a short service. This is to witness the placing of the ashes with his farther and will take approx 1/2 hour-1 hour

What a hell of a shame. I knocked around with Pete for many moons and lost contact with him when he was on his Mallard adventure. Great guy, great floatie driver. RIP mate

Was this the same Peter, known as the gentlemen pilot, that flew the Mallards in Darwin for Pearl? Later flew a pristine turbine Mallard around Oz for a wealthy young New YorK stock market couple? I lost touch during his adventure that extended into SE Asia last heard?

Yes looks like it was the Peter I knew and respected as a gentleman and superb pilot. Indeed another one lost, a great loss indeed. He was known for his willingness to do anything to help to make an ATC sequence work; loved by ATC at Darwin for his demanour. He was once advised of an engine fire on departure by Tower and displayed such calmness and composure in managing the situation that the best would be impressed by. Sad evening - RIP mate.:(

Yes, Pete did fly for Paspaley Pearls many moons ago. He also flew Mallards on the Queensland coast back in the hey day when they operated them on the reef. He loved the floating hulls the most, from the Lake Buccaneer and it’s bigger cousins.

He was at home on the water.

Yes Peter was a long time friend from the days at Aquatic Air at Palm Beach then to the Whitsundays. He will be missed by all up here and around the seaplane industry.

One of those posts you do not wish to read, must be over 20 years since I last saw Peter in the Aquatic Airways days when he was just wetting his feet and I was pumping avgas, can only agree with all the prior posts regarding Peter and his passing ............ "see you at the next station " we are all scheduled for the same train

Tragic loss of a gentleman,I worked with Pete at Paspaley Pearling for a number of years,he always had a real soft spot for the piston Mallard and I had the pleasure of many flights with him in OAW.We talked via email while he was touring in J-34 and he was generous enough to send me a great book on the Mallard while he was based in Vancouver. My sincere condolences to his family,Pete Bradley

Very tragic prang with the loss of a friend of almost 30 years. Peter was an absolute gentleman and great communicator. On every email of dozens per year he ALWAYS asked after my wife by name and sent his best wishes - what a great bloke. It will be 3 years since the crash on November 16th 2011 and I felt compelled to write about him in my blog [ http://seaplaneflight.com/Tribute to Peter " Rusty " McLeod Part 1 | My Seaplane Passion (http://www.seaplaneflight.com/tribute-to-peter-rusty-mcleod-part-1/) ]

Peter was becoming quite a writer / author of short stories mainly about aviation with such a great grasp of good English and the ability to " put you in the cockpit with him " that the stories have to be shared - I've posted one on Tribute to Peter " Rusty " McLeod Part 2 | My Seaplane Passion (http://www.seaplaneflight.com/tribute-to-peter-rusty-mcleod-part-2/) and have others to share later.

Fair Winds Peter, miss your inspiring communications.http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:www.pprune.org/get/images/icons/mpangel.gif
