Dear All

Yorkshire Universities Air Squadron (RAF Church Fenton) was formed on 15 March 1969, and thus is celebrating its 40th anniversary. A celebration, involving an informal dinner, speeches, and concluding with drinks at The Aaron VC bar will take place on 21 Mar 2009.

Could any former members, QFI's, instructors or OCs who may wish to attend, please get in contact with the Adjutant, Sqn Ldr Treanor on 01347 847991.

Many thanks :ok:

Anyone on here ex-members of YUAS. I was there 1992-1994 at Finningley whilst studying at Leeds.

I think I still have a copy of the red card song book FRCs!

How far back can we go? In my day (1971-72), with Mike Bishop (OC), Gary West, Ian Henley and Bill Purchase (QFIs) we had none of this high tech stuff shown here. It was Chipmunks with Coffmann starters and engine oil all over the place after aerobatics. I'll have to see if I can find some photos...!

From 1989, Paul Kidd gets airborne from the taxiway at Finningley ( the runway was being resurfaced) with me as ballast in my cab, the mighty Foxbat - until they changed the prop at Shawbury - for the Aeros Comp. Photo courtesy of the lens of R C Bailey.

More information now available including an outline programme and it's looking really good. Nothing over ambitious but a really good day and a bit. If you're ex-YUAS, get in touch with Barry.

Gosh, I nicked the brownings in 1990 and held them ransom for beer. Oh the delights of nav school and the YUAS girlies:}
