I have recently been looking up the history of British Eagle and seen in a couple of places on the internet that when the announcement was made in the House of Commons, there was cheering from the Labour Benches.
Does anyone know if this is true or just one of the stories that do the rounds?
I don't have a lot of time for Labour (or the others in recent times) but if it is true, then I think the cheering of the loss of peoples livelihoods to be pretty repulsive.

I can well imagine the dinosaurs on the Labour benches being delighted at the failure of British Eagle. It was in the heyday of the Labour Government, and anything private was then (as now) vilified by the mindless lefties. BE was a privately-owned airline :* based at Heathrow in BEA/BOAC territory := that was competing with the state-owned airlines  and not under their control :yuk:

Their spawn are now cheering at the nationalization of the banks and the numerous corporate failures of today.
