View Full Version : Name the period 2010-2012

14th Jan 2009, 06:59
We are coming to the end of the Oughties (or Noughties) and in 2013 we will enter the Teen years.

But what are we to call the period 2010 to 2012?

Hopefully it will not be remembered as The Even Greater Depression.

Pre-teens just does not have any appeal (for a variety of reasons.)

Absolutely no prize or kudos for the best suggestion.

Well, the Tweenies, of course. (as in "in-be-tweenies" for them as needs an explanation)

Actually probably the Weenie Tweenies, on account of it will be a very short period of time.

And if the Mayans are right, the world ends in 2012, so we don't have to worry about the rest.

No prize, no play.

I don't even reply to a business e-mail for less than $500.

Well, the Tweenies, of course. (as in "in-be-tweenies" for them as needs an explanation)

In UK & Australia we even have a melody for that and some words which require only minor tweaking. "We are the Ovaltinies, little boys and girls..."

What with the credit crunch and having to pay for the Olympics, how about

'The Debt-ies'??

The 'twenty-debt-ies' rolls quite nicely off the tongue... but leaves a sick taste in the mouth

Hopefully it will not be remembered as The Even Greater Depression.

I was thinking perhaps The Depression for a New Century in honor of its creators.

I discounted the Great Depression of the 21st Century as I have faith in our future leaders to cock it up even worse over the next 80-90 years.

"Morning in America" as the Republicans retake the Congress and run a conservative, as opposed to Bush's silly compassionate conservative faint imitation, for President in 2012.

The past three months have been one long, hideous hoax to lower expectations awaiting the coming of The Messiah, Barack Hussein Obama. Soon, fall's talk about a Great Depression, Vietnam-like war and shredded civil rights will give way to 'it is a really a recession, the $1 trillion deficit is manageable, unemployment is up, but not historically high for recession, growth will recover, see, furriners will loan us trillions because BHO and Hilary are such good folks, Iraq is democratic and safe and, sorry, but Bush's anti-terrorism measures are necessary."

Time to take my meds

BTW, if you think Bush's anti-terrorism acts are unConstitutional, go read about Woodrow Wilson's Palmer raids, jailing of socialist Eugene Debs.

But what are we to call the period 2010 to 2012?

Would it not be simpler just to call them Elevenses?
