Hi guys. Have done a search but mostly out of date threads.
Does anyone know how much the F/O 777 bond is for Qatar at this present time.
I have a sim with them end of January. I have heard it's 4 years and $50k. Please don't tell me so :confused:

From the Roadshow information, it is 3 years and $50K. It doesn't cost 50K to train you but it's just a sc.mb.g technique to keep you at leat 3 years with them.

Good luck

sounds reasonable to me . A little excessive perhaps , but 3 years ? Should be quite proficient with about 1500+ on type by then , which will be very marketable .as long as there is a reasonable clause that allows you to leave on health grounds , being made redundant etc.
Bottom line is , you are not paying 50k$ , you will be paid quite well , acquire world-wide skills and experience , while working for a world class airline which is not going to diasappear ANYTIME.
lucky chap I say - couldn't do that when I were a lad.
enjoy it.

I agree with Kotakota. Get at least 3 years of experience on that bird and enjoy the ride...

To be considered as type rated on either the Boeing or the Airbus you will need to have 500hrs+ on type.
And dont forget there is talk of dual type in Qatar on the 777 and 787 when it arrives so you will prob get 2 ratings for the price of 1. Happy days!:)

So, at this rate, you would need to stick around until at least 2013-2014 until the first 787 arrives (if there are no more delays) to get that incremental rating. Wow, that's a big carrot...

How often do QR Airbus pilots bid or switch over to the 777 fleet? Are Airbus pilots "encouraged" to stay put on the A330/A340 vs. jumping to Boeing? It sounds like EK allows the jump with a bunch of A330/340 pilots recently bidding 777 there.

there are plenty of A330 and some A300 guys being transfered to the Boeing fleet, most who are asked to tranfer reject the offer, as the A330 fleet is a much better fleet to be on within the airline. ( 35, A330's with world wide destinations )
there is no real benifit in changing fleets from A330 to B777, money is the same, except layovers and routes are presently better on the A330, and none of this ultra-longhaul flights.. the longest flight for the A330 at present is KIX at just over 13hrs.
to do this on the A330 we use 1 capt and 3 F/O ( 1 is in-flight relief ) presently on the B777 they do this with 2 Capt and 2 F/O's.. i'm sure that will change.. thigs always do around here
thats what keeps it interesting.:}
