Hi - I dont know anything about Kuwait Airways, but have a look at wataniya airways (http://www.wataniya airways) its a new premium airline set up by the government there starting end of Jan, based in Kuwait. I just attended an Open Day in Dubai (oh gosh what an experience - must have been 800 people all shoving to get seen). Anyway that aside the 3 interviewers were senior staff members and were charming and professional. They are doing Open days in other parts of Europe, and the money is good for ME but only one route initially. Sadly I didnt get through to the second day - a full Asessment Day, despite flying for 3 different airlines before - they said I was too experienced??, I suspect I am too old for them at just over the wrong side of 40!, as ME airlines are notorious for having low age limits. But go onto website, they seem to really care about their staff and its going to be a very professional set up. Good luck!

Marbella

I went for the open day too!!! waited for about an hour but got completely put off by the pushing and shoving so just decided to leave. It was complete chaos, no place to even stand.
I arrived at the place at about 1230 and it was jam packed already, i didnt think it would be my turn till late evening.
I must say, they should have been more organised, and had someone to usher and organise all the candidates.
Probably the turn out was more that expected.

You are right it was a complete shambles, but I dont think they anticipated the demand! I got there at 1030, and didnt get seen til 430! They werent even half way through by then. After 4 and half hours of queuing they pulled out all the girls from Kenya and said they were already full of their quota of Kenyan girls - who understandably went mad. I think these Open Days are a new experience for them and I am sure next time they will allocate a number to each person as they arrive. Aside from the lack of organisation on the day the company seems to have a great set up so I was disappointed not to even get through to the Assessment Day, but c'est la vie, on to the next one!

Hi there.. :)
I worked for Kuwait Airways from 2002 till 2007 as a flight attendant. The info you ask for regarding the recruitment is available on the website: www.kuwait-airways.com (http://www.kuwait-airways.com)
Just go to Carreers and it's mentioned there if they are currently recruiting.
If you are going to live in Kuwait then maybe it would be easier for you to apply from there, they are hiring "locals" more often nowadays as far as i know.
It was a unique experience for me, excellent training, interesting destinations and layovers, the salaries are not bad at all, i think that if you are determined to have a "cabin crew lifestyle" you will enjoy it.
As a in any airline of the gulf, you will be working mostly with Asians (colleagues and passengers).
My friendly advice would be to go for it, it's not very easy to be hired but at the end of the day they are more sensible than Emirates... at least that was the situation when i was there. I was recruited from my country, they were here for interviews in 2002 and since then they never came here again.. It's a matter of luck, the right time at the right place thing!
If you get the job give some time to get used to the country and the company, it will be all different to you but it gets better time after time.

I wish you good luck and if you have any specific questions feel free to ask.. :)

I don't work for Kuwait Airways but have good inside information.

On the training side - good instructors, outdated tools and equipment
On the aircraft side - aircraft are outdated, falling apart, unreliable, cabins not updated since aircraft purchased, IFE system still driven by video tapes
On the passenger side - overdemanding passengers, old IFE systems

Have flown 4 times with them in last years (business or first) and have found crew helpful but not too attentive. What food not served to pax is eaten by crew who are also happy to sit and read magazines in flight.

Don't know how many days/hours per month they work, but LHR and JFK are long haul.

Never seen any Europeans working as crew for them though.

They do employ people from Europe as cabin crew but the vast majority are from Eastern European countries such as Bulgaria and Romania.

As previously mentioned, a very difficult airline to get into.

would u know if KU would be recruiting in MNL? I heard they reruited a lot from MNL last year. I hope they would also come and visit us this 2009. I also heard rumors that cabin crews are over-populated already that's why they stopped hiring. Is that true? Thanks!

Does anybody know where the Kuwait airways headquarter is located and where is the wataniya airways one aswell ?

KAC HQ is not too far from the airport, about 2-3 mins drive. Im not sure about Wataniya tho.
I dont know how does the rectuitment works these days but I would say that they dont recruit at all for now. Few years back they did mostly recruit localy, as their offer was not good enough to even try to get people from EU. (they still had recruitment in Asia, as far as I know)
Things became a little better (money wise) in KAC as they increased Cabin Crew salary. Still no company accom. for males and female accom. sucks big time + you have to pay for it.
I would advise you to find out more about the country it self (if you never been to Kuwait) as this place takes alot of time to get used to the way the things are done there.
The recruitment process was (I think) easy, but that was about 2-3 back and I dont know if it is still done the same way. You will have English exam and interview with two KAC guys, very relaxed.
Good luck.

Thank you for your answer GBB.

I am already in kuwait and i found it quite fine, but still wonder if i would manage to get a cabin crew job here !

I hardly get informations about airlines recruitment, and it seems, like you said, that kuwait airways is not recruiting at all by now...

I might have more chances with Jazeera or Wataniya... but again nothing sure.

Im afraid you dont really get to choose any "hub" with Jazeera. They use DXB alot for their operations but you dont get to live there. You just stay there for few days, do couple of flights and you head back to Kuwait.
Jazeera hired (as far as I know) all of their CC localy (from Kuwait only). The flight deck crew is another story.

Hi Everyone!

I just noticed no one has started a thread about Kuwait Airways. I am based in Kuwait and I have several KAC FA friends here so I know pretty much a bunch of things about CC life here.

Unfortunately, at this time they are in the midst of a privatization. They did however, recruited before in the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia. They heavily require locally though.

Basic pay for starters is about 350KD. As of now, there is a government allowance of 135 KD (this might change one privatized). You can opt to live out or live in the accomodation (curfew is 2 PM). Live out allowance is 100 KD and transport allowance when you live out is 70 KD. If you use the company transportation 40 KD is deducted from your salary. You get flying pay and layover allowances that can add a cool 200 KD a month with an average of 70-80 hours.

So living in the accomodation, you get on average 645 KD = 2257 USD
Living out: 855 KD = 2992 USD

But I saw my friend's pay slip both when she was living out and living in, and it was a bit higher than this, prolly she has flown more hours that particular month.

Kuwait is a dry country. We only have malls, the beach and the gym where most people's social life revolves on.

I'll keep you posted once recruitment is raring to go. Anyone who knows rumours on who's about to buy KAC do share it here, because once privatized, KAC will be buying aircraft and be hiring!:O

I'm coming over to follow-up my application after Ramadan. Keep you posted here.

Hello... well I don't have nothing to do with Kuwait airways, but I have read a post in cabincrew.com, that I was really shocked, and I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S TRUE, im just trying to help... because if I were to apply to an airline, I would like to know this, so I wanted to let you know... this person under the nickname: Azamir, posted this yesterday:

1 september 2010:

Hi,

Kuwait airways is the worst place to work as Cabin Crew, discrimination is rampant sepcially against females, racila discrimination, relligious and gender descriminations are awful with kuwait airways. many female cabin crew were attacked and some were raped by other KAC chief cabin and pursors, the authorities alwasy take side with Arabs and Kuwaities, they can terminate you if you speak up or stand for your rights and violance against yourslef, I worked for this company for 7 years, so be careful what you wish for with and other Arabian companies in Persian Gulf.

Just wanted to help you guys out and to anyone applying, as I said: I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S TRUE...im just posting what this person posted. The best of luck to all :ok:
(I do think it's weird that this person was 7 years with such bad things...but we can't judge anyone because we don't know their lives.) BYE!

I am currently in Kuwait and as I said before I have several KAC cabin crew friends. The rape issue would have been all over if that had been true.

For sure, KAC is less strict than Qatar. And if I am asked to choose between the two, I'll take KAC for sure. :O
