Can one of our knowledgeable threaders give some thoughts to this years airshows. Are there stilll the same number expected and if so can we expect a reduced flying programme at many of them?

The Eastbourne Airbourne last year incurred a severe loss partially due to the withdrawal of private financial support and partially due to a stupid idea to fence off a section of the seafront and charge admission. The receipts came nowhere near the expenditure incurred and many private traders were furious about their dramatically reduced income. The local council still plan and/or hope to stage 2009 Airbourne in August but nothing has been heard locally as yet.

The Bournemouth Air festival is on the 20th August for four days. Last years was a tremendous success and at present, 2009 is planned for an even bigger show. However, as with most things at the moment, depends on the credit crunch between now and then...

Can you believe that the Sunderland Airshow which occurs in July was cancelled due to bad weather!

Better luck this year!

Wow. Three whole hours of flying every day...

Seriously, have you noticed how there is so much bunching of events into the same weekends?
