Our first calendar for 2009 comes from SilsoeSid, a photo which he took of the West Midlands Air Operations Unit EC135-P2+ when they visited the North Wales Air Support Unit base. G-NWPS is lifting for a job in the background.

For all Rotorheads around the world, a Happy, Peaceful and Prosperous New Year :ok:

As always, for Windows users click on the thumbnail to open a higher resolution full picture, and then right click to select “Set as Background”. Mac users should select the background via System Preferences.

So was the Nightsun 2 parked or did it just decide to fail in the parked position? :suspect:

Droopy that is the parked position for the Nightsun would you believe, something to do with aerodynamics and cooling it I am told.;)

Errr...attempt at sarcasm. I know all about the feckin parking problems of the NS2 from bitter experience.

Great picture - those blue Welsh skies must be a rare sight for the crew normally operating over "sunny" Birmingham ;)

I think you'll find that the Spec. for West Mids. is the Nitesun "XP", not the Nitesun II, and is reported to be far more reliable and stable than the Nitesun II model.

Also heard that all the UK Police users getting F.O.C. upgrades from Spectrolabs to convert from Nitesun II to XP ?

Correct there is a FOC upgrade to the NSII to the XP for the UK forces, only drawback being how long it takes for it to come into effect since Spectrolab , we're told are working lfat out and have spares issues, but this info is a month old and from ECUK.

We don't suffer from parking problems with our NSII, though they did change the handcontroller recently and that I am told is an older version which works different to the new version where one could have a problem parking it.

I note that the Nightsun is white. Would that indicate that it's a loan item as the original was u/s? :}
