From the Sunday Territorian Dec 28th

"A group of Canberra students were stranded in Darwin yesterday when they arrived to catch to catch their Tiger flight to Bagkok - only to be told the airline had not operated from the Top End since October!"

Reading through the article on Page 7, it appears that the group booked and paid their fares n July, receiving cofirmation emails of their travel. The group have not heard from Tiger, nor has any money being refunded to their accounts.

Tiger COO says that all booked passengers had been advised of the cancelled services, and that all airfare refunds had been made.

He was at a lost as to why thegrouphas not been notified and why their air fares had not being refunded.

The group estimate that they have spent another $4000 on lost accomodation, new airfares etc, but Tiger would not comment on any reimbursement to the group.

If it makes the NT News it must involve a crocodile somewhere in the story.

You would have thought that if Tiger had sent out cancellation emails, they would have also refunded the fares, or at least contacted the group via telephone.

it's not the first time this has happened... i've seen many stranded TT passengers at the airport claiming they haven't been notified by TT that their flight has been rescheduled or cancelled. What do you expect? Of course TT are going to always claim that they've notified the passengers...they're not gonna come out and say, they're understaffed and don't have enough resouces to notify everyone.. ? As we've all been through this...you get what you pay for...

We have had 2 people planning to visit us on the way through Darwin on their way O/S that have booked with Tiger months ago. In both cases when we enquired if they werfe still comming due to Tiger not going through Darwin any more. Neither were aware or had been advised by Tiger.

We alerted them in time to book with another carrier which they did. One is still pursuing the refund with Tiger, the other has written the money off.
