HOPE WILL KEEP US ALIVE !

Good job fellas who have already done the round 1B and got interviews for Stage 2.

As its Friday today and I have not heard from CX yet my universe around me at 6pm is slowly starting to fall from around me. I have heard nothing, not a Yes or a No. Hoping desperately that they are trying to get the abroad based guys through the process first before the local locals! Well done to all with the Stage 2 Interview ! Please do post what you were asked and what you said - would be very interesting to know.

I'm wondering if calling CX is worthwhile since they did say we would know by today.

Keep up the dream !

There is still chance !

Just spoke to CX, as I was getting really worried with all you guys getting interview dates and everything for Jan.

Apparently, for the LOCAL resident HKID holders, the interview time-frame is different. So hope still !

u really need to have extra research on the booklet :)

17th Jan 2009, 03:45
in very simplistic terms, longitude is an angular distance between two points on the earth's surface, one of which is the Prime Meridian and the other is your point of interest. it is expressed in degrees.

try getting a picture illustrating latitude, longitude and their relationship. it should be much easier to understand with an illustration at hand.

good luck!

flubba I couldn't agree with you more on the JKI booklet
some info do seem very vague, but if you read the second page it says 'It's up to you to dig out more information not covered in this book'.
IMO they may have done this on purpos to filter out those who have real passion for aviation~
anyhow that point has already been covered, exscuse my doubling.
good luck to those who will have their interview soon

The numerical test has a total of 33 questions, a set of data will be given followed by 3 questions for each set... they are just very easy maths. so just make sure u have a gd slp b4 the interview and u will be fine

FlubbaC - Congrats mate ! You've made it to the last Interview mate ! Well done fella !

How was the Second Interview ?
Did they give any trouble with the Eyesight thing ?

I did my First Interview and now waiting with everything crossed for the Stage two call. I would have been very confident of having made it through apart from a silly little mistake I made on the very last question - so silly am still kicking myself.

Anyway , lets hope for the best - let me know about how difficult the Job knowledge thing was , how you prepared and about the stage 2 interview .

Best of luck on Feb 4 !

ive been looking at this website for a loongtime , i feel its about time i contribute to this site!

I jus been through 1a and 1b stages, where initial stages were a series of test that has already been mentioned on this thread and 1b being an interview with 2 HR recruitment specialist, overall i like to remain optimistic, and i think it went reasonably well.

Flubbachany thanks for the heads up, you have provided excellent and very detailed info! wish you all the best on your management interview. I just like to ask a little about your bg if you dont mind, do you hold a HK ID? what did u graduate in?

aer-D, im sorry to hear about your bad news, if you had the chance to do it again, what do you think you would do differently?

If think alot of info has been posted out there about stage 1 interviews, however if anyone has any questions, i be happy to help out.

All the best to those wannabes out there! Never give in,

for those who applied with oversea addresses, how did u guys have such time(one month) to go to hk for selection process? because I believed most of u do still have school to go.
I'm just wondering if cx offers tickets to u or anything else (like on yr own expense)?

appreciate for response, thanks !

hey, can I know what they asked you about in the management interview?
personal, technical ?
Will u continue on higher level of education?

Hey ProPwannabe,

Just wondering if you're willing to tell me a little bit more about your first interview; possibly some examples of the questions asked? By the sound of it, it doesn't seem to be very technical based, more like a interview to get to know you a little better. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Warm Regards!

Hi all, this's my first post here and I hope someone could clarify me a bit..

I am going to attend stage 1a the coming tue and I'd like to know if there will be any question and answer session right after the oral presentation? Or I will just be free to go right after it? If yes, what types of questions would be asked? Would it be something regarding the presentation topic (training aspect of cadets at CX) or just about myself or something else?

Thanks for any input and congratulations to flubbachany and others who have made it!

hey flubbachany,

there is no fixed time scale for the HR person to call, I got the call for FG just in the afternoon ( my MI was on 0930 in the morning ) , but some of the graders in my batch got the call just 2 days before going to FG. (1 week difference) I can see that there are many variables, like your medical , etc. I know that CP 32 was just graded from 10th to 24th Jan and thier course will start from 2nd of March. CP 33 FG should be hold around late April. Sure the HR is busy with preparing the CP 32 and the interviews for other stage one , two ppl. Trust yourself, you can do it. 9 out of 10 in my batch made it in management interview. Cheers~:ok:

OscarGolfIndia, thanks for your input. Seems like you have made a perfect presentation that they didn't have any question! :ok: Would you mind sharing how technical you made in your presentation? Did you mention something like the types of propeller (ie. fixed-pitch or variable pitch) on different trainers?

Many thanks for sharing again.

the 1b interview is pretty personal,

talk about yourself,
u be asked questions on the subject you studied etc,
I studied subjects which are completely different (graphics design)to what a "perfect pilot" shud have studied, never the less you should atleast demonstrate you enthusiam for the cadet programme. And hopefully i was about to do just that.
The recruitment specialist will then go in your strengths/weakness, why did u do this or that, how did that make u a better person,

I think depending on whether or not you have a pilot present in your interview, depends on the amount of technical questions you recieve, I did alot of research and preparation for technical questions but for interview 1B it was mostly about yourself and your history! I think I shud have focus more on HR questions than technical, having said that i hope my preparation for the HR question was sufficient and I was able to demonstrate my suitability.

Finally you should have an answer prepared for why do you want to be a pilot and what can you bring into CX.

I hope that helps! :ok:

hey, flubbachany

on the same day of the ur MI, did u do ur ICAO english test??

10th Feb 2009, 08:24
I'm only young, But I used to live in Hong Kong. I think this is probably a NO or NEGATIVE!! or "your a bloody idiot"... But, would I have a chance if I applied? I lived there for 20 months. Or a higher chance of direct entry FO?

Great information being posted so far Flubbachany.

Like others I have a question. In terms of the mathematics assessment (including the aptitude test) just how hard were they?

Was it more of a mental arithmetic ability test or how much mathematics theory you know?

I'm asking because my mathematics is nowhere near good so I'm working on that for now.

Cheers,
and good luck on getting through!

flubbachany (http://www.pprune.org/members/279666-flubbachany),
that's good man.
coz i screwed up my ICAO english last time
pretty upset.

i got problems on listening and conprehension.
remember, he plays the tape with a concveration for 1,2 mins and ask ur questions. i didn't remember and catch what they were saying.

i remember another one which he gave couples things to choose like map, watch etc, something about the capsule. i couldn't catch that as well.

anywayz, i guess there's no way out except listen more, read more, talk more.

hihihi

To all who have been gone through the interviews,

Are u guys allowed to bring briefcase to the interview? like if I wanna bring some notes paper, my resume, recommendation letters, business cards etc...

Is the oral presentation presented in front of all other applicants and the recruiters? or just the recruiters?

How does the interview room look like? interviewee sit close to the interviewers or with certain distance so that the interviewers could see all the gesture, posture and stuffs.

thank you

LambOfGod
16th Feb 2009, 05:21
but it's up to you how to sit.

Can I do the ol' sitting on the chair backwards move?
