:)Some of us here may have our differences but Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to all in the Fragrant Harbour, I hope 2009 brings better things for everyone.

Yes, it would be good if we all followed the example of those soldiers in WWI who called an unofficial truce cross enemy lines for a wee dram, a game of football and a slap on the back over the festive season.
Those 19 year-old soldiers, previously shooting the crap out of each other, had an epiphany - they really weren't that different from each other. They had the same dreams - why weren't they on the same team?
Today, Christmas Day, is an opportunity to pull back, cut through all the attendant paraphernalia and see things in the unique perspective that this time of year presents.
Health, (what do arcane arguments over CoS matter if your annual medical turns up something you'd rather not know about...), Happiness, (define that one for for yourselves...), Humility, (to accept the things you cannot change...), Courage, (to change the things you can), and Wisdom, (to know the difference...) to you all.

I like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas. Without you, I would not be able to retain my very special 13th month, profit share and of course my very special bonus.
The more pilots taking unpaid leave will certainly increase my bonus, so please take as much time off as you need.
This will be a good year for us managers but I cannot announce the same for our employee group. The employees will have to sacrifice more. We need more productivity, less pay and benefits.
The new AFTL’S will help us tremendously with productivity and combine it with the up and coming imposed pay cuts… will have my 2009 bonus increase significantly.
Yes pay cuts and you will agree to them or we will lose confidence in your ability to pilot our nice shiny jets. We have a surplus of pilots and to terminate a few to keep the rest inline is a small price to pay.
Enjoy your Christmas and have a Joyful New Year.

It seems particularly sick at this time of year to pretend to be a Manager but what you're really doing may be of some use.
You articulate what our leaders are acheiving even if they don't mean to.
To those in charge who may read these lines - this is what we now comprehend as your motives and aims.
To the Management - keep it up - you're doing a great job of spelling it out for us.
