Does anyone know what I need to do to get a B1 when I already have a ICAO type 2 Licence. Do I have to do the whole program? From what I can see I may have to study everything from the first day of school (which was a very long time ago!).

been asked many times before on here and airmech, always with the same answer, have to do all over again from the begining, including type courses unless having the magic easa staement on them.

I’m sorry if this sounds picky, but where do you want to get your B1?

As the answer depends somewhat on the “where”, and what is your current licence?

Sorry to be really picky as well but there is no such thing as an ICAO type II licence and hasn’t since the 1980’s.

Yes there has, my CAA LWTR licence was ICAO Type 2 and I had that until not too many years ago.

Miles is right, the ICAO type II licence is a thing of the past and has been for 10 years!!!???

"The Type I and Type II Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) licences have been superseded by a single AME licence since November 1998 (see Annex 1, Chapter 4, paragraph 4.2)."

The above para is from the ICAO web site FAQ pages.

Cheers,

Can confirm what has been stated by mono from ICAO Annex 1 Chapter 4.2 there is no reference to type II the license is referred to as Aircraft Maintenance

Your National Authority Agency should have implemented the grand fathers rights to evolve from ICAO Type II to EASA Part-66 B1 License....(!). What do they say?
