Was coming back from Mackay last night, and the Centre controller asked us, "Alpha Bravo Charie, what is your registration?"
I was stumped for a second - trick question???
All I could reply with was "Alpha Bravo Charlie, our registration is Alpha Bravo Charlie!"

Precisely WTF was going on there??
(Callsign changed to protect the company & stuff)

maybe what the ATC was getting at was, are you going to be using your VH mark as your callsign i.e. VH-ABC your callsign ABC or are you going to be using a company name + flight number e.g. Qantas 458 or whatever.

Sounds like they couldn't find your rego in the system (if you had a plan in).

Maybe he was referring to your cars registration because someone took his parking spot again. ;)

Was he/she referring to the actual aircrafts callsign and you were using Qantas 1234 Virgin 7896 etc????

Unless of course, HAL (the reference is to 2001, the filum, for those slow on the uptake on a Friday arvo:}) has infested your transponder and is refusing to release your rego to those dubious types who never see the light of day. :ok:

Nope, we were using a regular three-letter callsign.
She sounded half okay though ;)

Alpha Bravo Charie
Charie? Maybe the VC cottoned onto your frequency and were up to no good!

Ah yes, there is a silken-voiced controller that has one fantacising all the way to the next sector!

Makes you want to turn around and go back, just to be able to say, "Centre, Forkair 01 maintaining FL160" and hear that longed for reply, "Forkair 01, BN Centre, QNH 1010" - which is actually her subtle way of asking "Are you free tonight Doc"? :O

Sheesh, you guys need a wank! :)

In all seriousness, it was probably a flight planning typo or other error which was brought to the controller's attention by means of a special "CONFIRM REGO" message we get. Avoids erroneous charging by the billing system later.

Just sounds like an engage mouth before brain scenario.

There's a female controller that does the Prawn/Barkly/Cooper etc. sectors that has quite a sweet voice. She's been doing it for at least the last 18 months. Think there's 3 who do the sector, a cranky sounding one (just sounds cranky, isn't normally cranky), another one who sounds like she's half Swedish or something, then the sweet voice one.

So apart from confusing everyone with my description, there was no other point to my post, :ooh:.

Do you have ADSB? A mismatch between flightplan rego and what the squitter is squitting will casue an issue.

Dunno what ADSB is.

Actauuly I've been asked by center what's my rego. This happenened when there was perhaps some confusion with another A/C having a rego very close in sound to mine during R/T exchanges. I replied confriming 'ABC' (for Eg) & that was that. Other times same thing happened when 2 or three of our Co. A/C where airborne at the same time with a particular freq. The ATC guys often muck it up as we do too:-)

There's a few '1900' voices out there, funny how us male species rarely take any notice of another R/T chat when they are male but introduce a '1900' voice & somehow ones ears 'pricks' up!:E
