Finally the C-130K with one of the A400M engines fitted took off. It reached an speed of 165 knots and an altitude of 8.000 feet.

Sorry, link only available in spanish:

Their picture was of-course of the A400M, and not of the C-130.

Thanks for posting that - I work with a lot of ex Met Research Flight people who'll be very interested.

The famous red and white striped nose now has pride of place in the Met Office HQ building in Exeter. Much of the rest of the equipment on board Snoopy is still doing good work on board a BAe-146 flying from Cranfield.

Billy,
at least she is back where she belongs:

In the Air!:ok::ok:

But she does look strange without the nose and radar above the cockpit.
:(

Anyone know if the elephant is still above the Navigators station? It was added as a joke when she was converted from a C1. The elephant appeared on the blue prints and thus, (so the story goes,) could not be removed without authorization from Lockheed/Marshalls!

No the elephant was stolen by someone who should remain nameless before it left Boscombe. Funnily that same person now works at MA so maybe it could find its way back ?
