Medium rotorcraft?

Maybe a silly question, yet I haven't found any answer...

JAR-27 applies to rotorcrafts with a maximum mass of 7000 lbs.
JAR-29 applies to rotorcrafts with a mass of 20 000 or more.

I cannot found any document (JAR-28?) for those aircrafts with a mass between 7000 and 20000 lbs, can you?

Part 27 (FAR/JAR/CS) applies to rotorcraft up to and including 7,000lbs
Part 29 (FAR/JAR/CS) applies to rotorcraft over 7,000lbs.

Sounds more likely, however I'm quite sure about that JAR-29 says over 20,000...

Any chance you can give me a link to the source as I only find the amendment to JAR-29 on JAA homepage.

Not that I'd know but the JAR 29 reference I have seems to imply that >20000lbs and with 10 or more passenger seats you must be Cat A.

It does allow for less than 20000lbs and less than 10 seats being Cat B with some variations.

All in Para 29.1 Appliciability.

My copy may not even be up to date but its all I have to hand.

You find the actual rules for certifying at the EASA home page. The JAR 27/ JAR 29 are quite identical to the CS 27 / CS 29.

The JAR 29 is for Helos of 20.000 lbs and/or more than 9 pers. capacity
The JAR 27 says if Your Helo is heavier than 7.000 lbs than take another JAR/CS for certification - and that is JAR CS 29....
Ther are no rules between

Thanks heliflo! So I had simply missed the part that if you do not fit under JAR-27 you are suppose to obey under JAR-29.

If you read the first section - 29.1 Applicability - you will see that the references to 20,000 lb are only pertinent to the requirement to be certified as Category A or not.

CS29 most definitely applies to aircraft above 7000 lb.

On a pedantic note, should not the following:

Rotorcraft with a maximum weight of
9072 kg (20 000 pounds) or less and nine or
less passenger seats may be type certificated as
Category B rotorcraft.

say "..nine or fewer passenger seats.." ? :E
