Gidday all

I've recently been invited to PNG for a few days taster of working out there, its something i have always wanted to do.

I know this has been done before but most posts on flying in PNG seem to be quite old.

Whats it actually like out there, living wise as well as flying, from the living in a compound through to associating with the locals? I've sort of got this image of something along the lines of a Vietnam war movie! Also, what nationalities are the pilots out there, do you get people from all over the world or does it tend to be just kiwi's and ozzies?

Any help and advice would be gratefully received.

PNG can be hard some days and paradise the next...

To answer the question we need more info such as where they are planning to base you as POM, Lae, Kerema etc.

Another big factor is which company you will be working for eg MAF is alot different to APNG.

I will take an educated guess is it North Coast Aviation (NCA) that has invited you??

A good company will hire you outright and pay your airfares to get here.

These companies also provide you with conditions that put GA in places like Oz and NZ to shame.
