The propaganda train lives on; The spin trying to dress up the move from the Motor Inn to the Best Western is just so sad it's funny;

My personal favourite's got to be the Richmond Mall offering "large varieties of multi cultural cuisine outlets" ; And there I was thinking it was just a ****ty food court, in a ****ty mall, in a ****ty suburb. Apparently the GMA considers Subway, KFC and a Kebab shop fine cuisine. :ok:

And let's not forget Richmond is now " easy access to downtown Vancouver with approximately 15 minutes drive" Not sure who's driving the GMA's limo, but they must be a fast driver who knows all the short cuts.:ugh:

Still, this little diddy pales into insignificance when compared to their pathetic reasons as to why we are still operating to Mumbai, so really who's surprised.:D

Well said! Right up until the last paragraph that is. I suppose with your logic we should also stop flying to SFO, LAX, JFK, LHR, FRA, DEL, CMB, DPS, etc???? All of these places have at one point or another been involved or threatened by terrorist activity. Get used to the threat posed by these extremists as it is not likely to go away any time soon. The only way to win, is to manage the risk, not run away.

Best Western ?? Unbelievable.....gone from the Sutton place a few years back to a Best Western. The Cabin Crew have all the pull with crew hotels but i guess with very few cabin crew slipping in YVR they can treat the pilots however they want - again.

Cabin crew "pulled" to have a layover at a Best Western??

Don't forget we stay in the Best Western "Premier" in ICN.

Another CRAP hotel

And the Rama Garden tried for Best Western status but wasn't a high enough standard. Some of the hotels we stay at are sub-standard; old, noisy, curtains that don't block the light to name but a few problems.

It's all well and good for people sitting in an office sleeping in their own beds every night to put us in these dumps, they don't spend half their lives in them.:*

You sleep where we tell you to sleep. If you don’t like it, leave. Our door is always open.

Operating ports with regard to Mumbai and Bangkok, see above.

It’s all about risk management and yes, some issues are expendable.

We receive our bonus at the expense of labor of course.

To My Bonus.

Oh come on Management,

It's LABOUR not labor..............

Don't they teach you spelling at Swire school.:ugh:

Actually, it's both!

He didn't go to Swire School because he isn't Management...at least not senior!

What it tells us though is "The Management" is a North American. The word "labour" is a British spelling which ANY Brit would know! ;)

He could be a Canuck too. It's labour in Canada.

It is LABOR in Oz, Australian Labor Party that is, and they are a bunch of Socialist ex Union hacks. Most of them, except for their fearless leader Kevin OS (Over Seas) cannot put more than a few words together.

The original poster makes a valid point. Very valid.
Subject wander occurs as soon as management makes a comment and by this stage we are sniping at each other.

Just like real life!

Now how about some real debate about the hotels we stay in?

Nike, can you come up with an original remark? Litle Johnny is gone. More is the pity, he wasn't just a Prime Minister but he was a Statesman. Wake up to your self.:yuk:

Labour/Labor who cares.
The "Queen's" english has long been irrelevant.
It is such a minority of the english speaking world.
English is one of the most bastardized languages there is. Taking origins from German, Scandinavian, French, and Latin.
It was long impure before the colonies ruined it.

Also hope that they change the room's carpet at the new hotel, saw the kind of abuse you'd never want to take your shoes off.
Also rooms around the pool looked like there were a few porno's shot there, especially 108 if I remember correctly.
Oh and the hot tub, another forum member might want to check to see if his rash ever cleared up from it.

Back to the topic but I don’t thing the Labour/Labor issue is finished.:hmm:

Well if the hotel room is unacceptable or the noise is too loud during the day for pre-flight rest, I am sure all crew (Capt, First Officers and Second Officers) will be writing ASR’s to the Head of Corporate Safety. Some may be too fatigued to completed the duty.:ok:

If not, you have no right to complain. Suck it up.:ugh::=:(

There has been speculation that some of our crew hotels, most of them the poorer ones, along with the awful 'food court' in CX City, are connected with a previous CX CEO of Singaporean descent, and/or his family...does anyone out there in PPRUNE land have first-hand knowledge?

You mean the same guy who ownes half of the Starbucks franchise in HK?

The same guy that put 2 very big white Dragons at the main enterance of Hello Kitty City to ward off the evil Gwilo spirits?

The same guy that stopped all foreign cabin crew recruitment?

Oh that guy..............:)

The worst thing they did was to change the food court in CX city, I haven't eaten there since. Sadly they removed choice and replaced it with "maxims choice" which is somehow different.

Captain Dart
10th Dec 2008, 18:13
I have boycotted 'Maxim's' for nearly a decade since the industrial 'unpleasantness' of 1999-2001 and also because of the swill that they serve there.

I would encourage all crew to do the same.
