Can anybody tell me where this aircraft is? It has been conspicuous by it's absence for some time now, and there is no sign of it at Old Warden. A friend of mine is a regular visitor to Shuttlewoth and he has asked the question several times, but has been given the brush off on each occasion.

My interest is that I am an original member of the team that restored this aircraft to flying condition at Duxford from 1972 -1975, and subsequently looked after it until it's operating base was controversially moved from Duxford to Old Warden in the 80's.

It is on a major overhaul at Old Warden, I saw pictures of it in their magazine 'propswing' a week or so ago. I believe it will be back in the air next year. Absolutely no need to be worried, just a routine major.

Been in hangar one all this year at least (ok, for a short time the fuselage was out the back being stripped back), so quite how the news got back to you that there was no sign of it is a mystery!:)

Wonderful picture, Brian. If the Taceval siren ever sounds at Old Warden, I think the engineers might possibly leave that one alone. :ok:

On a serious note, that photograph speaks volumes to anybody who might think that maintaining old aeroplanes in a safe flying condition involves little more than a can of polish.
