According to Google Maps there's a nice airstrip 2-3NM west of St Leonards. I've got family staying there this xmas and turning a 3-4hr drive into a 10 min flight seems a good idea.

Is this strip available for use and in good condition?
Who should i contact prior to going in?
Is access easy on the groud? (it appears to be just off a road - maybe private land, via a pvt driveway)

YSLE is what you're looking for. It's not in the ERSA but probably in the AOPA book or Country Airstrip Guide.

Check out

Lighthouse - Air strip (http://www.lighthouseoliveoil.com.au/?p=airstrip)

for details.

Just realised it may not be the one to which you refer, so FYI.

Thanks for the help guys. :ok:

Citation? Ah......nah, most likely a dirty old 172 or Traumahawk (paying out of my own pocket for these flights!) Just a dirty big bit of water between where i'll be and St Leonards makes the drive so long.

Yep 2 good private strips at St Leonards east/west gravel, north/south grass
contact Col Wiffen 5257 3481.
Take a few dollars with you. Col's a mussell farmer and has some of the best mussels you'll get anywhere.
