Just heard reports of an Atlas Air 747 and Emirates 747 hitting one another on the cargo ramp in Lagos, Nigeria.
Any one else know about this?

I heard from someone of the ground that a B747-400 winglet hit a 747-200 tail cone the -400 lost the winglet and the-200 looks bruised at the back. Both aircraft were Atlas Machines, it could possible be a marshalling error

No info on incident but would not be surprised ,we quite often have to negotiate several other aircraft on ramp ,then they manage to squeeze in an Atr ,part of the problem is that too many "helping" hands are waving at you wether to indicate clearance or just waving ! When you are being pushed back you really are in the hands of the tug driver ,just along for the ride ,the freight ramp is an accident waiting to happen often the case 3 747s,Md11,Dc10,B727,Atr,very dangerous place for aircraft and people.

Been waiting for this to happen. The place is a bloody nightmare. They have no concept of "safety". More like a supermarket trolley park than an apron, Lagos, the centre of excellence:eek:

Thats funny, you dare call it "ATC" I call it "calling in the blind" and "Non-radar" procedure(s) the entire time we are in their airspace especially if you want to live to talk about it!

I've seen the pix. 408 buried it's winglet in 517's APU. Under guidance from a marshaller from what I understand.

Isn't that the name of the new nightclub up near the airport?

It was only a question of time before something hit something else on the Cargo Ramp - it's anarchy in action there.

Mind you the fork lifts are entertaining as they try to outdo Lewis Hamilton!

...I'd say happiness is TOC out of DNMM...and that ramp is more like an immobile carrier deck, minus the deckhands!:ugh:

N408MC is back in service, minus winglet. N517MC will be ferried to AMS for repairs to the APU firewall, once new doors are fitted to APU comp.

Certainly not V1.You are all wrong!"Happiness is V2 at Lagos",and several at ACN under Cato,Arthur Chea the Chief Pilot, and Erik "The Red",in the early 80s,and the other Expats had tea Shirts printed to that effect. We were the first guys to coin that phrase, especially if taking the scenic route,Turn Right at the coast after 19L and go direct to Abijan, then Dakar and Valencia to Luton McAlpines or Fields at Heathrow, since the normal route went to Kano,or Kaduna, thence Maiduguri to Taman Rassat or Zarzitine, and thence to civilization in Alicante or Valencia. You would not breathe a sigh of relief until Farmy,SATCO at Lagos, cleared you on course to the Gold Coast, and several times when going north, trying to clear Kano Centre, the Exit Clearance through Mali was stopped with the awful invitation to descend to Sokoto or Maiduguri, and an indefinite stay in the Deribe Hotel!!!!Happy days until Barry Glover's guys ended up in KiriKiri!!!!The joy of 125 flying with the Big Oggas.

517 flew to AMS last night for proper repairs. Looks like it'll be there until the end of the week.

Ah yes, Sokoto. We got stuck there once and had to spend the night at the Shukura Hotel.

We were assured it was a five star hotel - the stars were so small you could hardly make them out! Still the staff were friendly and no one got shot that night.
