Any NSW Commuter pilots?

Hi, I'm 16 and want to know about commuter jobs within Australia, mainly NSW. I hear they take low hour pilots with single GA type flying. I wouldn't expect a great deal in salary so if it were preferably close to home, I could have a higer paid job non-flying...

As for commuter services, how does it lead into opperating larger aircraft and getting hired by regional airlines? I know many pilot's get an intructors rating, me being a student pilot leads me to believe it would be quite stressful and nerve racking... And besides, I'd much rather fly a C210 or 182 (anything realy) out to some wicked new place.

So, can you tell me your experience including age, salary, did you enjoy it, were they nice planes etc. Even if you did something completely different can you tell me how YOU started or are starting a career in avation.

Hmmm.... I thought I might ask this one;
I read some pilots saying don't make the same mistake I did, or, flying is the worst career ever.
Can you tell me, are these pilot's just rich and thought, 'I'll give it a try' or wanted to fly for the glamour and big bux of the "Catch me if you can" pilot? (thats a movie by the way)

There are no "commuter" operators let in NSW - Yanda, Country Connection, Wingaway and Airlink are all gone.

The hard fact is that you will need to get out to WA or QLD and get a single job, then get a twin job out there somewhere.

This, my little baa-baa, is not a bad thing and will allow you many oportunities to discover some of God's forgotten people. NSW is nice but there are a lot of sinners in WA and the NT and as Billy Joel said :uhoh:

Ok, well my deffinition of "Commuter" might be slightly different.

But are there any jobs around Dubbo, Lightning Ridge, Bourke and all those other places in that end.

I know I shouldn't be fussy... But...
Are there 'commuter' low hour hiring job's in Vic or Tassy, becuase I'd love to to fly down there. Not to hard to relax in tassie either:ok:

At 16 you have much to learn but good on you for starting somewhere (PPRUNE) to find out. No ones born with the info so yr just like the rest of us where a million years ago, green as a blade of grass.:)
It's a tough rd to the top (whatever that maybe for you). Most likely as you go thru this initial period you will realise that going nth to the more remote area's that rely on the smaller simpler A/C will be yr first steps out of training.More to come from others in here am sure. Gee, Capt; I figured you were at least 20 with all that experience and advice that you espouse (probably off your P plates soon).

LoG once you finish HS and your CPL get out there and grab a single by the horns. I can't recommend Kununurra highly enough but then again maybe the Top End will suit you more. Look into MAF. On your initial question I know absolutely nothing about flying jobs in NSW and even less about commuter stuff. Keep PPRuNe-ing.

As much as I love going flying at work everyday..I would actually have agree from a career point of view. The job itself (from my point of view) - you can't beat it..but the industry itself is shocking.

My advice to you is if you are truly passionate about it - then do it, but get another qualification as well that you can fall back on. If you are not 110% sure that flying is what you want to do..then do it as a hobby on the weekends!

Yes, I did thnk about getting a traid. Although, it would probably be and electrician or something. I know you could 'fall back' om it but is it real a trade you can just go into? I know nothing... About non-aviation and heavy metal related texts...
