A couple questions for any licenced jumpers living in HK that might be floating around proon.

1. Can you jump in HK and if so where?

2. If you can't, where is the nearest DZ accessible by car (ie is there a DZ over the border that you can jump at)?

3. If there aren't any that you can get to by car where is the most convenient DZ to get to from HK?

Thanks.

Do you really want to fall through that crap air at 120 mph?

We use to have a skydiving club at Sek Kong Airfield. The club ceased operations after the handover. At the time all the training and jumps was done by the BPA (British Parachute Association).

Not sure where the nearest DZ might be. Perhaps Thailand or Malaysia?

After living here for a few years, you will more than likely want to throw yourself off the IFC building.........thats more of a free fall jobee though :}:{:ugh:

Thanks Dakotablue.

A new DZ has been threatening to open for the last 6 months near Bangkok. They have a porter in place but have been experiencing a lot of delays getting the operation running. Looks like that will be the nearest if there isn't anything in HK or Shenzen/Macau. I was hoping to find somewhere nearby so I don't have to drag a rig through airport security all the time.

The Thai Sky Festival is on in early March 2009 Thai Sky Festival 2009 - Home Page (http://www.thaiskyfestival.com)

Other than that there is very little skydiving in this part of Asia. I jumped at a one off event in Vietnam this year but I don't think there will be any jumping there again any time soon.

You can skydive in Japan but it's about US$60 a jump.

I think the easiest thing to do is get on a flight to LAX or Australia and jump there!

The Hong Kong Parachute Club, which used to operate out of Sek Kong moved it's operations across the Border to Shenzen. I understand that it is still operating. If anybody is interested in a phone contact I can supply one.

Hi Chris,

If you don't mind posting the number for the HKPC here it would be appreciated. Otherwise can you pm me with the number?

Lex,

Thanks for the link to the Thai Sky Festival, checked out the site, looks like a great 2 weeks. They are full wrt jumpers though, so waiting list only. Is it an annual event? Beach jumps out of a herc, doesn't get much better than that!

Hi

There is a group starting a skydiving operation in Pattaya Thailand. They have purchased a Pilatus Porter and plan to be up and running early in December. I have checked out the operation and it looks good! They have a lot of bookings it seems so it should all work out. I don't have the website on me right now but you can Groupwise Captain Sparrow for the details.

the new dz will be located at Sri Racha airfield just outside Pattaya, Capt Jack has plenty of accomodation for jumpers and i'm sure it'll be a good operation. Jumped at his previous place in the uk and it was a fun professional setup. I believe he's still trying to get the porter through the mountain of thai paperwork but hopefully by xmas he'll have nailed it. Looking forward to getting out there.

Hey Mate,

My wife might be flight for Cathay Pacific sometime soon so I am keen to find out about skydiving in Hong Kong. I saw your post about possible jumping in Shenzhen. Can you please give me phone numbers, emails, websites etc? I have tried good old Google but nothing is showing up.

Cheers,

Phil

I suspect they closed the HK club due to the rather logical notion that the aircraft was going to land at some point anyway. :p
