Seems like Air Berlin are going to move back from Satellite 2 to Satellite 1 after pressure from Servisair. I hear it could take place as soon as this weekend.

exactly what pressure could servisair possibly bring to bear? they are hardly one of the big boys at Stn anymore.;)

replace the word pressure with grovelling.............................:O

Still bitter & twisted Sat 1. You need to let go.

How much truth is there in the rumour that that the air berlin contract at stn has finally been settled, and that it has been awarded to aviance?:ok:

Anyone heard or know any info on the rumour that 4U have served notice with Swissport....Devastating news if true, but more worrying who are they going to ????

sat1
10th Nov 2008, 08:40
most likely:air berlin will move to aviance while servisair take germanwings;)

sat1
10th Nov 2008, 13:42
IF....airberlin do move to aviance and servisair gain 4u, will the 4u contract be sufficient to justify servisair staying on the ramp??? Or would they simply concentrate on the cargo side of things????
Answers on a postcard to the usual address;););)

..Looking a bit like musical airlines and musical handling agents here at STN. I agree the Air Berlin story is finished, with them imbedded with Servisair in Sat 1. Germanwings are doing the contract rounds and the EZY/Menzies story is alive again.... Considering Aviance thought they had Balkan only to find Servisair chocking it , and we all thought we had Air Europa , guess it's a case of wait n see !!!!

Heard yesterday that STAL (BAA) loking at mothballing Sat 2 !! With Air Berlin moving to Sat 1 and pesumably FR retracting to Sat 3 there's only the few flts over there that Aviance do. Aviance have been asked to do the now once a week 9U from domestics (dual gate) on a Tuesday.

Interesting state of affairs re the industry in general..:bored:

it's official...
the 4U contract has gone to Aviance, to begin mid Jan 09...
the rumour I have heard is Swissport handed notice to 4U (before easyjet jumped to Menzies)...
as always the GHA's are running with the bare minimum number of staff which is never enough when CTOT's, offloads and DL93's screw up the schedule... whoever we (the bag monkeys) end up working, for the jobs stays the same just the name on the hi-vis thats changed!!

Im in the same boat as a lot of people here and a colleague who works in security in BRS summed it up nicely.

"Same Coffee, different label"

So fe11 your right in saying our jobs are secure, just means one day we will be wearing a servisair Hi Viz, the next a Menzies one.

I believe that Servisair are loading Ryanairs at the moment. have swissport got it so wrong with the maths this year?

Re: Icare9

Your experience is perhaps evidence that the BAA are getting desperate to generate some cash from their white elephant investment at Stansted:E

Re: STN Ramp Rat

Swissport caused chaos by opening too few 'bag drop' desks, and several hundred people missed their flights.

Now that servisair will handle both air berlin AND germanwings, how long before one airline complains that the other is receiving preferential treatment?
And why have germanwings only agreed to a one year contract? Maybe they can see problems coming.

It would appear that Swissport dealt with the majority of the diverts into stn over the last few days.Talking to reps would suggest that they (swissport) did so with a great deal of professionalism, skill and resiliance in what must have been very demanding circumstances.Airlines take note.

any truth in the rumour that BA are looking to change handling agents for their divert contract at Stn as part of the ongoing cost cutting exercise?

Servisair got the UPS contract with the Aviance takeover, but now looks like they have lost it to Swissport.

It would seem that there has been a management misjudgement about being able to borrow the equipment required for cargo aircraft, this morning they were having to use a HILO as a 20 foot pallet dolly due to them having none of their own and Servisair understandably not being willing to get them out of a tight spot.

you can see there point however it didn't stop servisair using there Hi lo on friday without asking either. They used it on 2 Titans and a Jet 2. Servisair can't of thought that they would keep all the cargo contracts once they were over there alone, could they?

Poor old servisair, lost contracts, and the realisation that there is competition out there. This is just the beginning. They would be wise to keep on the good side of swissport......they may wish to work for 'the new kid on the block' very soon!!!!!!:O

What goes around comes around,
Swissport used to do cargo up until a couple of years ago, but lost the Titan mail contract to Aviance.
Looks like its turning full circle, again.
