I've done a search, can't find too much on this one. What duty allowance do you get as an SO? From what i've seen so far $20 HK 'on all achieved productive hours'. Is this an allowance paid from duty check-in to duty check out? What about flight duty pay? Do you get any further allowances down route etc?
Thank you for any help.

You'll also get per diems when you are down route. These are usually enough to cover the applicable meals and a couple of drinks while you are away.

Thats Mach. Is that duty pay ($20HK) paid per duty hour? ie check-in for duty in HK to check out back in HK, or is it per block hour ie chocks off to chocks on?

So as a new start SO I'm looking at a starting salary of:
-32,213
+ duty pay (say for 50 hours block) -1000
+ per diems - down route allowance

= 33213 * 0.85 (15%tax) = $HK 28231

+provident fund 15.5% of 32213 = $HK4993
+housing allowance (14000 - 22350)
+all the other benefits -13th month etc.

As a year 2 JFO (6 years in the company):
-55,352
+ duty (60 * 70) - 4200
= $HK 59552 * 0.85 = $HK 50619

Are these figures close or am i missing something here, please tell me there is more somewhere!

You got most of it Shirley...

For pay issues the duty time is essentially blocks off to blocks on.
The duty pay depends on the number of hours.
SO $20 (0-55.9) $35 (56-69.9) $60 (70-84)
JFO $30 (0-55.9) $50 (56-69.9) $90 (70-84)

You will typically do 75+ hours per month. Therefore 75 hours would equate to A) 55.9 x $20 = $1118 + B) 13.9 x $35 = $486.50 + C) 5.1 x $60 = $306
A+B+C = $1910.50

As for the JFO pay, you will under most circumstances only stay JFO for one year if you pass your QL first time around. At that point, you will go to the FO1 pay scale ($66, 193 HKD/month).

Hope this all helps.
