I have a query about the above publications please.

With regard to CAIP's, the set I have is "rather old". I don't currently have access to the current version, but have a potential need to acquire a set. Before I get my organisation to invest the £97 cost, my query is this.

Is the current version as comprehensive as the set I have ( think c 1980ish here ) and consisting of two volumes.

The query re the FAA A n P notes is to where I can obtain a set in the UK...the Airframe in particular.....and any idea as to the cost.

Tried "google" for the latter, but no success hence the query here.

The reason for the acquistion is to have an accredited source for the definitions of various components / systems and maintenance practices as well as basic generic circuit diagrams.

Thanks in advance for any relevant info.

For the CAIIPs ie CAP 562 go here (http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?catid=33&pagetype=65&appid=11&mode=detail&id=92) and for the FAA A & P notes go to the advisory circular (http://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgAdvisoryCircular.nsf/1ab39b4ed563b08985256a35006d56af!OpenView) section of the FAA website and look at AC 65-15A, 65-9A, 65-12A and you might want to look at 43.13.1B and 43.4A (all of these are located on the second page of the link). The publications are described by that fantastic word free :D

Otherwise pay me fifty quid plus p&p and I will burn a disc off :}

No worries assumed that person was looking to update. To check out the question you can compare current with old set. But certain the new is a slimmer version but to confirm would have to look in me loft and dig out the 1988 CAIPs. If I remember they were split into sections like AL PL RL EL etc but that was a long time ago :( and me memory is fading these days:{

All of the current Engineering manuals are here in PDF form, there is no longer a requirement to have them in hard copy, simply the means to access them on line will do

List of Aircraft Maintenance Publications | Publications | CAA (http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?catid=33&pagetype=65&appid=11&mode=list&type=subcat&id=5)

Just to say Thanks for all the info :ok:......the word "free" gets my attention.....strangely...not a word one readily associates with the organisation concerned.....however.

And for Engineer, whilst I appreciate your kind offer to relieve me of £50 ( you clearly have management potential ) there is a well known engineering response that you may have heard a few times over the years. ;):E

Thanks everybody for your help.
