The first time I ever flew was on a pleasure trip, in September, 1957, in an Auster (Mk.5, I think) flying from the beach at Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire.
I recall it was flown by Capt. Jim Crampton, who, I am given to believe, went on to found AirUk.
Anyone else share this (brilliant) experience?

Jim Crampton did indeed do pleasure flights from Cleethorpes (Mainly in G-AJVT) but also with other aircraft too. He went on to do pleasure flights at Clacton in the late 1950`s and then went into partnership with "Wilbur" Wright-at Great Yarmouth.
They later went on to set up Rig Air -renaming it Air Anglia -
which went onto become Air Uk/KLM Uk etc etc
