I just had a great idea; how about if the government passed a law saying that all premiership footballers registered with teams in this country and all British players registered with foreign teams donate 50% of their weekly salary to the treasury for the rest of the season. That would solve our problems for years to come, but can you imagine Frank Lampard trying to manage on less than 100,000 per week?

Assuming 30 players per club, that comes out to around 137 million*.

Not as much as you think is it?

*Av salary = 1.1m, so 0.5 of salary for remaining 0.5 of year = 275,000

Very boring day at work

We could get the Spurs squad set to work as economists. They're already fully employed as clowns...

The RSPCA were called out when they were informed that the Tottenham Hotspur team were playing football with a hedgehog. No action was taken when it was discovered that the hedgehog was winning 4-0.....

Apparently David Blaine is gutted; he found out that his record for 49 days in the box doing nothing has beaten by Darren Bent....

Global (not national - Global) Socialism, dissolve religions.

The Star Trek world where no one has 'money' and everyone is employed and happy.

Unachievable.

When I was a little boy I remember that the Football Association had a mandatory limit on the salaries of professional football players of twenty pounds per week. That would be in the era of Stanley Matthews and Nat Lofthouse, I guess. Maybe I am wrong, it was a long time ago.

I think they still do that with rugby players.
