Can anyone (who has actually been onboard the Qantas A380) tell us all what the cabin crew rest facilities are like? Are they like the 8 bunk arrangement found on the B747?

Thanks ABP for answering my question. I was wondering if the 12 lowerlobe crew rest bunks are shared with tech crew or do they have separate quarters? (I personally would rather not have to share with tech crew...nothing personal, just a personal preference)

ABP....are you able to comment on whether the crew bunks have any special features....eg. access to inflight entertainment, music channels etc

yes they have access to the whole range of in flight movies, plus music and an Ipod docking station, full INTERNET access, a sat phone with reduced rates for CC, and a masseur.
there is also a hotline to the nearest galley to place any orders that you may need whilst you are in the bunks!:ok:

Wow that's fantastic! I'm gonna use the Chux to provide extra lumbar support for my back. Also looking forward to accessing the crew website so I can catch up on previous editions of Cabin Crew News.

Obviously cartexchange is being more than a little facetious about the massage etc.....

but didn't Pegasus post something about Cabin Crew bunks of the flying brioche having the entertainment screens not fitted unlike the drivers crew rest!

But with keeping in this theme...
if the 12 lowerlobe crew rest bunks are shared with tech crew
...No I would never allow my name to be put to an area of mixed crew rest...it would be a recipe for disaster...and the noise..you would never get any rest.

My idea of a lowerlobe crew rest included a swimming pool with a gym including a spa but as usual the company didn't go for it....spoil sports.

With all the farting that goes on in the flight deck I'm not sure shared crew rest is a good idea anyway :E

Though as ABP said it could make those long night sectors fun ;)

Midnight pyjama dash anyone??

Thank you ABP for your response. I asked the question of IFE in crew rest cos I think SQ installs it on their A380 for their crew. Then again, I'm comparing apples to nashi pears now....an airline with a proper 'bedroom suite' for P class compared to an airline with a pokey seat that swivels towards the window, masquerading as a 'suite'. Having said that though...Qantas does offer Premium Economy Class and a Skybar for J Class and self-help kiosks for Y Class....I don't think SQ or EK are offering these...though EK is offering a shower for P class.

It will be interesting to see what other airlines will offer when they get their A380s. Its gonna be difficult to compare airlines cos each offers something quite unique to the other...

Ooops...I've digressed from the original thread topic now....

I just hope the crew meals won't be Thai Duck Curry....I don't think the by-product of this is very 'carbon-neutral' for the environment within the lowerlobe crew rest....lol.

Oh god, not the duck curry again, righto, don PBE all!!! :}

If QF don't have IFE for the crew... what a pile of hokey!!!

Do we at least get those uncool blue PJs like EK do??? ;)

Little Red Hat....instead of PJs, we could all strip down to our undies and wrap our aprons around us for modesty....mmmm...that would be such a sexy look for the boys....yummy.

Bring back the George Gross/Harry Who cardigan is what I say....as daggy as Noni B as it looked, it was oh so warm and comfortable. I still wear this cardi whilst doing miscellaneous and non-descript work around the house during winter.

Little Red Hat, you do have a very valid point about being issued with PJ in crew rest. You and I could pitch this to the company citing that the A380 is the company's flagship aircraft and therefore the crew need to look their best at all times....creases and dribble stains on our uniforms whilst in crewrest will detract from this image. If the company turns around and cites cost as a drawback....well then you and I can volunteer to whip up some night garments on a Pfaff/Jenome on our days off. I'm having visions of beautiful plush velour fabric right now......

the Emirates P class shower suite has been nothing but a plumbers nightmare . .

Oh Domestos I love it!! Yes definitely velour, and don't forget the diamante roo on the back of the top :p

As for costs, well the mums club can make them in between their morning KGI trips, excellent use of time and resources...

Ew... can you imagine how manky that EK shower would get... I heard they had to hire special FAs to work as dunny attendants because none of the others would do it...

Not as bad as that EK have - 24 crew, 2 spa attendants. IFE in crew rest same as pax, full service lounge/bar that opens on seatbelt sign off to on for F/J that searves hot/cold canapes throughout flight with 42"LCD. F have own bar complete with water feature!!! There is even a LCD in the spa area...watch that one on the dunny!
