A few months ago I had the pleasure of being introduced to Jack 'Lucky' Pegrum by his son Nigel (of Steeleye Span fame, among many other musical achievements), and talked to him briefly about some of his experiences in 207 SQN RAF Bomber Command during WWII.
He was a true gentleman, full of wit and humour, and I would have liked to hear more of his stories if we'd had time.
I did some internet searching afterwards and found that the nickname 'Lucky' apparently stemmed from him surviving two aircraft crashes - not sure of any details though.
Does anyone know Jack and any further details about his exploits?

Thanks, clicker.
Humbling to meet people like this, and Mr Pegrum himself was very humble about his achievements too.
If I got the story straight, he did two full tours. Amazing fellow.
