Last Friday a student flying solo circuits had an engine failure and landed off-airport. He walked away from the accident thankfully, with the C172 ending up on its back. The engine quit after he tuned base, and it was impossible for him to reach the runway since he had been on an extended downwind. Once he realized he wouldn't make the runway, he chose to land on a river bank which is located on final approach to the airport. During his landing, he struck some cables about six feet above ground and the airplane flipped. The investigation is ongoing.

Thanks for the info and good to hear that the student is ok. In the interest of improving air safety in China, do keep us updated on the findings of the investigation.:ok:

Due to lack of any information the rumors are circulating that the student died. If you could publish a proper press-release regarding this matter, like they do in the normal countries, it would help all of us to avoid such accident.

Why did the engine fail anyways ?
