I've just changed ISP's to BT Free Call. No problems for accessing WWW and receiving emails, but I can only send emails through my old ISP.

Any suggestions as to how to change it all over to BT Free Call?

Do you mean that you have to dial up your old ISP to send your email?

If so, and assuming you're using Outlook Express, then from OE select

Tools

Options

and click the 'Connections' tab.

Click the 'Change' button (to modify these settings)

In the Dial-up Settings window, click on 'BT Internet Free Call' to highlight it, then click on the 'Set Default' button. Click the 'OK' button.

That should do it.

This assumes you are using Outlook Express 5 like me.

To check if your outgoing mail server is set up correctly.......

Click Tools - Accounts - Mail - Properties - Servers.

Your Outgoing Mail server should be listed as

smtp.btinternet.com

Fine as it goes fellas, but next month bt have already posted that they will be reducing the free surf time to £5.99 and you can choose your own ISP's regardless.

By the way Speechless, both POP3 AND SMTP should be mail.btinternet.com - so I am really suprised that it works. Mine didn't last week and the gurus at BT told me they should both be mail. Funny that!

Now that is strange, IFR! - How on earth can both server addresses be correct, although both obviously are working. I have been with BTInternet for about 3 years I think, and have always had incoming mail set to mail.btinternet.com and outgoing set to smtp.btinternet.com

I'll try both set to mail when I log off.
