How is it possible to post from Florida USA and have an IP log of a UK IP ????????

I believe that a certain person is posting on a particular website from the USA but the IP log is that of a UK provider. How is this possible?????????

Go through an anonymiser. e.g.
http://www.creative-dr.com/html/anon/

This also answers the problem of the people int hose regions where they cannot access sites. many of the anonymisers are blocked. Do not worry, more open on an almost daily basis and they cannot track them all in real time.

As a (former) school IT manager I'm interested in this as the little geniuses always tried to be one step ahead of the obstacles we put in place to control their Internet activities.

First, how can you tell the IP address of someone who is posting?

Could a school pupil using a school IT network working through a corporate firewall get around the excluded sites list (maintained by Research Machines in this case)? http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/confused.gif

Thanks for the clue ORAC, I can't make a connection to the site at the moment, but I will try again!

If that one does not work just go to a search engine like yahoo/alta vista/hotbot etc and search for "anonymiser".

I live in Australia but my company HQ is in the UK (and hence the IT firewall). Any of my posts from work (not many!!!) will show up as a UK IP address.

fobotcso,

In my experience schoolkids can hack their way into or out of anywhere. Resistance is futile! In the end I employed a teen hacker schoolmate of my daughters to protect my PC for me. So far it's worked but I'll never know what treats the little b*gger left behind for his own use :)
