Any current ex-pat B737 Shenzhen pilots out there willing to share working conditions/corporate culture of the airline and their experiences living in Shenzhen/Shekou? Thanks! (PM me if you would rather discuss off list)

Hello
I'm wondering the same things as you. I'm working with WASINC. Everything about this type of flying is new to me, so anything you learn and can pass along to me will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thirteen years ago a group of us left Wendover for China. If you can live in Wendover China is a piece of cake.

P.S. Say hi to Johnny for me.

You and I have a lot in common ENV1. Here is the thread fareastdriver is referring to that has quite a bit of info: http://www.pprune.org/south-asia-far-east/308248-shenzhen-airlines.html

I was hoping to hear a bit more regarding Shenzhen Airlines itself. Things like the likelihood of being based in Nanning instead of Shenzhen/Shekou, what the interview in China is like (especially the CAAC and company medical), what the day-to-day operation is like, how the crews treat ex-pats, etc. Being new to this I have no idea what to expect.

Thanks to anyone willing to chime in!

Cheers,

OK. I've also run into one of your former captains, Ray F. now with the FAA. One of your former F/As Sonja, now flying RJs. And the feds who shut you down, who are now our POI and assistant POI (no fun).

I'm far from an expert, but I think the 737 is out of Nanning, and the Airbus is out of Shenzhen/Shekou.

Thanks for the info boeingbusbenn, it is not what my contract company's recruiter said (does not mean I am disputing it by any means) but I sure would love to talk to someone working there to find out for sure. This is exactly why I would love more info straight from a current employee's perspective... how about it... any current B737 Captain expat's flying for Shenzhen Airlines willing to share information? PM me if you would prefer! Thanks.

Been working my ass off on the ATPL for CAAC. Anyone has any insight on the tch quiz ? Question bank etc..?
Looks like besides the ATPL, there is also a tech quiz in the hiring process for SZA.
Thanks.
