I'm currently using a laptop with Win 95 installed and would like to install Win 98 SE. Is there anyway to uninstall the current Win 95 then install Win 98 without having to format the hard drive. Normally, I would format the hard drive on my desk top PC however the laptop isn't mine and I don't want to lose any installations that may be on it already. Is this possible? I have a full version of Win 98 but not an Upgrade that's why I'm asking.

Many thanks for any advice!!

If you plough your way through the following thread from last year you may find the answer to your question.

If you can't install your Win 98SE as an Upgrade, but have to wipe out the Win 95 Installation, you may have to re-install all your major Applications (those that use Registry settings). But you will see from my post of 23 Sep 2000 that I did what you're trying to do with total success. So go carefully and all should be Okay.

Simple Apps that only use shortcuts to EXE files will not be much of a problem.
