Morning all

I have checked out LASORS 2008 to try and find updated info regarding the PPL manuals. In the back of my brain I am certain I read somewhere that volume 5 radio navigation and instrument flying had been removed from the syllabus.
According to LASORS exams are needed in the following areas.
According to below you do need Volume 5...?

1. Aviation Law & Operational Procedures
2. Human Performance & Limitations
3. Navigation & Radio Aids
4. Meteorology
5. Aircraft (General) & Principles of Flight
6. Flight Performance & Planning
7. JAR-FCL Communications (PPL)

Can anyone confirm this for me please?

Thanks very much.

Well, I didn't buy Vol. 5 until post-PPL so I reckon you can get away without it!

However, it will be useful later on so if you can get a bulk discount deal for buying all the volumes at once, then it may be worth it!

Cheers

Presumably, you're referring to the "Trevor Thom" manuals, not the "Jeremy Pratt" ones?

For a PPL, TT vol5 is not necessary, JP vol5 is Human Performance & Flight Safety, so is necessary. TT has 6 volumes required for the PPL (1-7, not including 5), JP has 5. Choose the set recommended by your school, or you may risk some confusion because your instructors won't be familiar with them.
