Hi all,
Just booked my october sitting of exams for Gatwick.
Im flying into the airport on Monday afternoon, and need to book accommodation for 3 days.
Can anyone tell me how close the CAA HQ is from the airport and the best place to stay for the 3 days, considering il need to b in walking distance etc. Anyone been there, done that??

Thanks

Hi, Its been a few years but I dont think there is anywhere witnin walking distance of the CAA HQ. There is a Holiday Inn about 5 mins drive in a taxi. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Yep, Chavelodge is within walking distance. Cheap and cheerful. If you're going to stay there I'd recommend skipping breakfast and getting one of the excellent fry-ups served at the CAA canteen (3rd floor). The hotel food was pretty dire when I stayed there (got a pizza delivery instead) and the wine was simply wank.

Personally I prefer the Ramada Plaza (http://www.ramadajarvis.co.uk/hotel/overview.asp?hotel_id=33) which is a much better class, very reasonably priced and has a pool to unwind in. It's a 20min walk through the industrial estate, although there is a shuttle bus which goes right past City Place which is about £3 or something.

There is also a Ibis hotel near to Gatwick drove past there the other day and I think that they were advertising £45 a night, but you would have to get a 3 or 4 minute cab ride to the CAA building as I would suspect it would be a good 20 min walk

I agree the food at the CAA is great and really cheap as well.....

Good luck with the exams :ok:

If you do a search for B&B's in Horley you'll find loads - should be quiet this time of year, holiday makers or cabin crew on courses generally...

Not walking distance but £35 tops with a good breakfast and walking distance of pubs...a small requirement after day 2!!!!
