View Full Version : [WARNING: Aviation-related thread] The $50 Mini Motel (tent)

17th Sep 2008, 11:50
Was up late last night watching NBC's Nightly News with Brian Williams. This report (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032619/#26743912) entitled "Destination, waiting: airport retail takes off" (about halfway down the list of video segments of that newscast) caught my attention.

It featured the $50 Mini Motel tent (http://www.minimotel.net/product-info.asp) which offers airline passengers many of the "comforts of home" including:
Air Mattress
Bed Sheet
Alarm Clock
Reading Light
Tooth Brush & Tooth Paste
Ear Plugs
Eye Shades

Whilst appreciating the benefits that such a product might offer air travellers in these days of regular delays and sometimes very long waits between connecting flights, I was wondering just how airport security might react when their concourses fill up with all these personal mini motel tents, whose occupants (and whatever they might be doing) are hidden from general view...?! :uhoh:

I realise that any real terrorists will also have their camels tied to their tents. But will that stop Homeland Security from bothering everyone else innocently trying to catch 40 winks...?! ;)
