A good place to get free text-messages is from BT's Talk 21- www.talk21.com (http://www.talk21.com) It is really a free E-mail service but it also allows you to send texts. Also you could Lycos- http://www.lycos.co.uk/service/sms/

Hope this helps,

www.icq.com (http://www.icq.com)
If you load the software, it allows you to add contact names and then enter mobile phone numbers so you can send 20 sms messages a day. People can then reply direct to your PC if they wish. Simple to setup and so convenient rather than waiting for web pages and multiple adverts to crash yor PC. Hope you enjoy it.

Here's a cool thing you can do with SMS -- free of charge too!

Register your full international mobile number here: http://www.excell.to

This then allows you to send emails to anyone directly from your moby for the cost of an SMS. Read the site for full information, but the basic operation is that you send a message of the format EMA [email protected] .Subject.Type your message here

Catch? None I can see... been using it for over a year without many problems. It's an "experimental project" so cannot be relied on for important messages, but seems to be up 99% of the time.

If the phone you want to send to is in the UK try genie.co.uk (http://www.genie.co.uk)
