Did a search to check if this had been done before and it doesn't seem that it has been so....

Who would you vote as Username of the Year in the following catagories?
*relates to actual username(handle as they used to say on the good old CB!) and not number or content of posts.

* Damn wish I'd gotten that one first

* Koolest

* Funniest

* What the F:mad:k!

Have fun:)

Dunno which would be the best category, but Heywood Jablomey has long been my favourite.

Always thought Captain Spunkfarter grabbed the attention :uhoh:.

Hugh Jorgen hasn't been seen on Pprune since 2003. Maybe not quite up there with Heywood Jablowmey, but as a 'handle', pretty creative none the less.

Has anybody ever started a thread for explanations as to why people chose their unique usernames? There must be some interesting stories out there....

Big Tudor

Yep, there was one done a long time ago. Dunno if it has survived the various server upgrades though?

Yep here (http://www.pprune.org/jet-blast/12211-what-about-user-names.html) it is. Mind you, most of the names are long gone.

Not user names as such, RAF name tags (http://www.pprune.org/military-aircrew/208348-dodgy-name-tags-photos.html)

Art E. Fischler-Reisen is one of my favourites. Another ppruner once commented, "I hope that's not your real name sonny!" :rolleyes: :} :D

As an ex-(If one ever is) Navy mate, one of my favourites is Captain Stable. I also liked Onan the Clumsy but he seems to have disappeared off the radar.........

I gather that Onan discovered that he needed to chose another name.

Art E. Fischler-Reisen is one of my favourites. Another ppruner once commented, "I hope that's not your real name sonny!"

Thankyou, fair Whirls! :)

And if my memory doesn't fail me, the answer was: "Is your real name Camp Freddie?"

Sonny? I'll bet I could give him fifteen of my years, if a day! ;)

I also liked Onan the Clumsy but he seems to have disappeared off the radar......... Can't do quotes since addblocking can't put in faces either. But yes, Onan's name was one of the best. He's not far away.

I must be really thick!!! What am I missing that is subtle about Dan Winterland... just got it! I had no idea until it was mentioned. :D

(For other equally slow people.. Downwind to Land)

B Fraser
16th Sep 2008, 11:26
Maybe I'm just as thick but I don't see the joke in Larssnowpharter :O

If anyone wants a witty Pprune name, I charge 5.00 for a simple pun, 10.00 for something clever, 15.00 for a personalised monicker tailored for you or your employer and 20.00 for a name that is verging on the obscene. I accept Paypal :ok:

My bargain bucket this week includes Veni Vidi Velcro ( I came, I saw, I stuck around) for 8.90.

Another aviation spoof website that shall not be mentioned is the haunt of Warwick Hunt. Sir, I doff my hat ;)

Radar66
16th Sep 2008, 16:59
ah but Beefy you forgot to say that Warwick Hunt should be said in a scottish accent.... no? :oh:

Nowhere near the top of the pile for creativity like "Dixon Cider" and "Dan Winterland" (my favourite, for its extreme subtlety), I got my name from many nameless flight attendants.
How nay times hve you been part of this conversation. (FA enters flight deck) "Captain, what would like to drink?"
"White coffee with two please Brenda."
(FA disdainfully glances to the right) "Andu?"
