Transferring files to new PC

Decided to take the plunge and go buy a new PC!
Got lots of useful files on the old one.
Any tips for best way to transfer them to the new PC?

Do a clean install (this is a good idea anyway once in a while..... http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/frown.gif ) and than you can transfer them with a direct cable connection or, if you know how to play around with jumpers, put the harddrive from your old pc into the new one and copy the files....
