PAT Bournemouth search

Hi all

I am struggling to find out very much about PAT in Bournemouth here, did a search but very little comes up.. Anyone give me the heads up on this training organisation as I am considering moving from my current one for various reasons??

Medium sized well organised flight school with a good first time pass rate conveniently situated on a good trainning airport (EGHH) with good facilities for CPL and IR trainning. Often recommended by an ex Jaguar pilot, who's a member of the all engine out club now instructor at a near by groundschool. They have Sierras and Dutchesses and a nice sim (if you phone ask for uncle badger in ops).

How are you searching. Use a google advanced search and type in PAT and then in the domain field type in [www.pprune.org] - without the brackets.

You should get lots of hits that way. PAT comes up every now and then and generally no one has a bad thing to say about them. I see they are now one of the affiliated schools for Flybe which might help although timing is everything and in the current market who really knows.

Excellent school with very high standards, and several ex students have recently joined Flybe. There are some nice touches, such as the Sierra, Duchesses and FNPT2 all having identical avionics kit, which helps the transition between types, and they benefit - like all Bournemouth schools - from having CAA examiners based at the airport. They are also good at staying in touch with job hunting ex-students, which was very much appreciated and went beyond the call of duty.

My only serious criticism is that the ops controller is a QPR supporter, but there's no accounting for taste . . . :p

I will echo all of the above.

An excellent outfit with a good groundschool element too. The ex Jaguar man has a few stories to tell! ( good old days in the RAF!)

Currently doing my IR on a part time basis with them and thouroughly enjoying the experience! Linda and the team are very flexible and will go that extra mile to fit you in. If you put in the hard work and have the right attitude then as G-SXTY mentioned there is the possibility of recommendation.

Instructors are very approachable and again go out of thier way to help. They are not hour builders, but professional dedicated with one aim: to get you through the courses with a first time pass!

Thanks guys, you make them sound like a great school and I will definitely be calling them on Monday to see what they can offer me.

I have to say I am rather surprised if they are as good as it seems that they manage to keep it all so low key..

They don't spend much money (i.e. your money) on advertising, most of their custom is from word of mouth and personal recommendation. That speaks volumes.

I have recently booked myself in there as funnily enough a change from current provider , they are very approachable people appear very well organised and above all in great contrast to where I am now , now major egos' . From what ive seen and heard speaking to current students it seems a good place to be . BRuno is most definately still aorund

They seem to specialise in "finishing people off" from other schools and are more than happy for the custom. What I liked was the steady planning and the 2 students to 1 instructor and certainty over aircraft availability.

They certainly do! I believe they have recently taken on board 8 students from the other two major FTO's at Bournemouth! Me myself failed to initially see the PAT light and I completed my CPL at another FTO, thankfully I am on board with them now with the IR.

profot: PAT does not have to shout about its existance at all. As G-SXTY says its all about word of mouth and recommendation! Give Linda a call and you wont look back! :ok:

Already done, thanks guys, you have re affirmed what I thought about the place and am confident to do my CPL/IR there.

Now the challenge is getting a place.......

I went to this school a couple of years ago, before they changed location, and I thought it was a fantastic school. The quality of instruction was excellent and the team that worked there gave the place a great atmosphere. They are now in a much smarter building, which must compliment the high standard of training.

You wouldn't go too far wrong choosing PAT

Finished my training with them in April with first time passes in both CPL/IR. Would highly recommend them!
