Having trouble recently with the speed of my pc when i click a button for any reason at all. Whats happens is the button or whatever gets clicked, there is a delay of about 10 seconds or more before anything happens. Yesterday, it was really bad, 20 seconds or more delays after clicking anything. I restarted the pc after a long wait and when it re-booted this error came up. .Cannot find WINDOWS.POP, unable to load windows. So, after a while, i re-loaded Win98(was running XP Pro) from the windows boot disk and seem to have 'lost' all my programs and e-mail etc.!! If i look in the windows explorer they are all there but i can not get to them. I did have windows on drive C, but had to install it onto drive D which is where winXp was instaled. I have had to re-instal everything too.(Hardware) . .Anyone know what i can do about this.? I am considering re-formatting both drives as i cant be bothered with any more hassle.!!!!!

In order to preserve program settings, favourites, etc, you need to do an Upgrade installation of Windows rather than a Clean installation. Unfortunately there is no upgrade path from XP to 98 so your only option is a clean install. The only practical way to get your applications back is to reinstall them from the original media. Provided you have FAT32 partitions then your data and email should still be available. The best method would be to back up the data & email files to another location, reformat, install Win98 & applications, restore your data. It's a lot of work, but from the sound of your situation worth the effort.. .. .Hope this helps, let me know if you need more info.
