Hi folks,

I recieved an e-mail on Monday that did not contain anything at all. I had my suspicions about its reasons then, but didn't worry as I don't know anyone that would knowingly send a virus to me.

Now, everytime I log on, I get a fake internet connect box on the monitor and my e-mails are returned by responsible ISPs as containing a virus.

I really need the help of somebody well attuned to PCs as this is a new one for me!

All advice appreciated.

VFE.

Same happened to me,

Go to www.McAfee.com (http://www.McAfee.com) and use their on-line virus checker.

Took a while, as I'm far from PC literate, but got cleaned up in about an hour.

Good luck

Thanks for the advice Arkroyal, that's my spare evening taken care of then!

Just hope I haven't left it too late.

The problem with the link to that website is that the virus stops me from getting into it! I have tried every possible way but I get the "Illegal Operation blah blah...will shut down etc" box keeps coming up.

I think the virus may be the Mxt virus. Sensible has offered help so I will have to wait to hear from him as he had it too.

give
http://www.grisoft.com
a try, they have a very good free (permanently) edition of a downloadable Anti Virus (with fix's.

Its worked well for me and was able to disinfect when i was recently infected with Magistr32 worm virus.
