Need some of you to go to <a href="http://www.pprune.org/forums/index.php" target="_blank">http://www.pprune.org/forums/index.php</a> and register and have a play with some new software I am testing to replace this bulletin board.. .. .Don't be too creative as anything posted there will e deleted before the migration when it is decided to go ahead. Feel free to post your views either on there or here. Just use it for a while and see what you think.

(Edited after some more playing around). .. .The user control panel is really useful. PPRuNe calendar seems a good idea too. Like it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" /> . .. .(Edited again). .. .And it's got a 'Posts per day' indicator - can it handle Herr Draper...? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" /> . .. . </font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">. .If you have more than 10000 posts, you may also specify your own custom avatar. .</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">That'll be about next week then <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" />. . . . <small>[ 08 March 2002, 07:00: Message edited by: Evo7 ]</small>

it certainly provides a lot of gadgets to play with.... .. .not too many moons ago, we got a new look here as well, showing how many bored aviatition enthusiasts had their browser directed to the board at a time.. .Than there was the rating.... .than there was ..... .and also .... .. .and eventually all had to go back to some straight forward design layout as the bandwith was not capable of coping with this all.. .I am very sure, that a lot of board operators may use the fancy stuff without experiencing any problems...over here his digital highness will have to wipe off tears plenty of times when disabling features step by step in order to keep the important data squeezing through the net.... .. .Yes, I like the new board, finetuning certainly still to come, but still..... .. .let's wait and see how it goes.

I seem to be getting E-mail whenever someone replies to a thread I've posted in... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="confused.gif" />

Well, the response time is great. Pity it's telling me it's too busy to register me.

A most welcome upgrade to be seen.

Some nice features, provided you can keep the response time up.. .Ignore List - YESSSSSSS !. .Personally don't need the 'views' count although I can see it being used by Admins. And a big NO to the ratings - we have enough aggro here without supplying more ammo.. .Colours a bit stark.. .Spiel chucker, er.. spill chequer, er.. dictionary lookup thingy would be nice, but probably too intensive.

First things first - it won't let me log on - I've tried logging out from here then trying to log on there - no joy. I've made sure I'm using the same user name and password. No joy.. .Next - Yeah OK if this is what you want to do Danny, but please - . .1 Tone down the colours - they are a bit harsh.. .2 No ratings please - it just leads, as you know, to people playing games, multiple voting, and does not really indicate the interest quotient of a thread. Admin Guru would get a fairly diabolical rating but he does not lack for interest.. .3 'Number of views' only really gives an indication of whether the thread title looks interesting or, to a lesser extent, of whether the poster is interesting. In any case I suspect that what people are looking for is the number of responses. This indicates whether a thread is dead in the water or is good enough to get people thinking and answering.. .For example - start a thread called 'Free sex for pilots' with a totally boring post - you'll have hordes of views - no posts. Quite a waste of time.. .4 Finally - could someone please post the rules for Mornington Crescent? Please?. .. .Rory

Dear JoaN <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" /> . .. .Colours are child's play to change as is overall look and apearance. Indeed if the software works as well as we hope when the whole site is migrated over to it you may well be able to set everything to your own taste.. .. .It is a completely separate site and software - you have to actually register on it rather than just trying to log on with your present details.. .. .All the gadgets and features are switched on to either cause me to quit working on the site or to artificially load it up to induce and correct problems before D day - you decide <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" /> . .. .For example numbers of views - if we had that on this main site you'd see major R+N threads going up by 10,000+ per day! It's eye candy for much quieter sites - we gave up on page/ view counters 4 years ago when we went through the 100,000 hits per day barrier.. .. .Finally, Mornington Crescent. We can prepare a full FAQ section on this but we regret to announce this has led to bloodied noses and sulks here at the Towers. Agreement on which of the myriad rulesets to adopt has proven impossible.. .. .Sadly this means we cannot at present help with the rules until Danny admits that I'm right. Tricky when a despotic meglomaniac is involved but I am very patient......... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="tongue.gif" /> . .. .Rob. . . . <small>[ 10 March 2002, 15:40: Message edited by: PPRuNe Towers ]</small>

Just An Other Number. .. .The important thing to remember about Mornington Crescent is that the Luxembourg shift becomes retrospectively revoked on alternate Tuesdays (apart from in Lent, when the Morton's Convention is in play). Given that this introduces a possibility of Hoffman's congruence, leading to a strong outer circle, all should now be clear. . .. .Oh, and there is no Offside rule in Mornington Crescent. Unless the Earl of Derby's rule applies, and even then it only applies if one or more team is in Nip. . .. .Simple really <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" />

seems to work well. repsonse time seems good, but thats a very subjective evaluation.. .Are you planning to import all the old posts?

That's right Sticky and it's the buttock clenching part of the operation <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> . .. .On the scale we're working at the stability and accuracy of the imort filter/scripts has to be 100%. You can see how well the new site is working but that's under a very gentle load - we have a pretty anxious time ahead of us here at the Towers......... .. .Rob

I notice the time zone setting, nice feature, but if you select London as a location does it handle the GMT/BST change? Or similarly with locations in Aus?
