Was wondering if anyone can provide any insight as to whether or not it's possible/feasible to be based in HKG but be living and commuting from BKK while working at CX?

5 flights a day to/from BKK with the flight time being right around 2.5h, it seems quite possible. Does anyone currently do this? Any comments would very much be appreciated!

Do-able but the flights are VERY full. Be prepared to shell out for a full fare every now and then (the standby system will be useless for you for quite a long time as commuting cookie-chuckers will bump you).

Dealing with rostered standby ("awarded" on a "fair-share" basis) will necessitate affordable digs in HKG. Don't rely on the Novotel or Regal as they're frequently full and gouge just when you need it. Forget about the Brushwing Barracks, it's always chockers.

Not to mention frequent insurrections, riots and typhoons, it might be possible...

You're going to run yourself ragged. The "2.5" hours flight is really a six [6] hours hassle. Ground traffic, taxi; baggage drill at Suvarnahbumi, stuffing your toothpaste and suntan lotion into plastic bags; endless filling of immigration cards, and getting your passport pages mauled. Easier to trade your Thai thigh for a China doll and stay in bed.
