Gentlemen and ladies

Our management recently allocated a slice of the pie for airborne laptops for our two aircraft. The laptops are nice (Tosh Tecra's), but the printer's are great - gotta say that cos I spec'd 'em :)

I wanted small printers, colour not necessary, self-contained power, and not being held forever in debt with ink cartridge replacements. Also wanted to avoid possible problems of ink either escaping from cartridge, or drying up in same. Tall order?

Answer was the Pentax PocketJet II. Uses thermal (ie fax) paper, no moving parts except for the paper feed roller, measures less than 2" x 1" x 10", and that includes a rechargeable batt pack good for about 35 - 40 pages.

Only downside is the price, as they're not a mass market seller, and (only minor), the thermal paper is not a permanent archival medium. Then again, after the flight, who cares? And print quality is v good - laser like, and no ink to run if it gets rained on - like in descent from great heights when it starts raining from the hood lining...

Cheers (not an agent for Pentax, but very impressed with the product)
