Surprised this hasn't made it on here yet..........

Triumph for British forces in Boy's Own-style Kajaki mission - Times Online (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/asia/article4660274.ece)

Well done, them lads and lasses!

Good effort, let's hope it does have a bit of "hearts and minds" effect.

I also hope Red Bull will be offering a few slabs of their drink to the chaps in Afghanistan for the free publicity. Not sure what the readership of the Times or Timesonline is, but it must be a bit of good PR for RB.

It appears to have been a difficult job brilliantly executed - superb all round. The turbines and the associated power will make a huge difference to southern Afghanistan, so full marks to all involved. BZ!

Excellent two page article in yesterday's Independent, fulsome in its praise, but the last paragragh is telling when it comes to the overall problems faced by the guys on the ground.

'Yesterday afternoon – having dropped off its precious cargo – the convoy sped back through town and the steel ring of 1,000 troops pulled gratefully back to the relative security of camp. As the team of engineers began the long process of providing electricity across the south, the territory around them was once again ceded to the Taliban.'
