Just a quick question, anyone know how Tul Bahadur Pun VC is getting along?

It is with sad regret that I post the following information.

A former Gurkha soldier who won the Victoria Cross and was later the figurehead for a campaign on Gurkha's rights to settle in the UK, has died.
Tul Bahadur Pun died in his home village of Myagdi, in Nepal, aged 88.
He received the Victoria Cross for saving the lives of dozens of his comrades in Burma during WWII.

In 2009 he campaigned for Gurkha's rights alongside actress Joanna Lumley, who credited him as having saved her own soldier father's life in 1944.
Mr Pun died at the official age of 88. However, birth records were inaccurate in the country at the time and his real age is believed to be 92

Rest In Peace.

Bless him, a brave and loyal individual - AND dignified.

Those attributes transcend race, religion, political persuasion et al.

Sadly, the great man who PPRuNe supported in his attempt to return to this country has died at the age of 92.

Many PPRuNer's had the opportunity to meet him at its 2006 GatBash. He made quite a hit.

PPRuNe offers its condolences to his wife and son.

Tul Bahadur Pun VC, your country honoured you for your outstanding bravery in its hour of need. It dishonoured you by claiming that you had shown insufficient association with it to live your last days amongst us.
The daughter of the officer whose life you saved when this country was honourable helped you to fight on behalf of your fellow Gurkhas and incidentally to regain this country's honour.
Your entire life was one of duty and honour.
Rest in Peace you who were the Bravest of the Brave.

I am perpetually amazed at the feats of courage and valour that are displayed on the battlefield year on year. Mr Pun is was another great example of how the worst situations can bring out the best in people.

Mind you, he deserved a bar to his VC for coping with having EIGHT daughters!
