Can anybody help with the following?

Turn on computer and get to the logo screen where you have the little bar going from left to right and then the little bar just freezes, as does my keyboard and power switch. (The reset switch works). This happens randomly and usually means me having to reset 2-3 times before getting the thing to fire up properly.

Thanks for any help

Since your boot problems seem to be intermittant it may be that the problem is actually a shutdown problem. One frequent workaround is to boot into safe mode and then immediately do a regular boot from safe mode.

There are a lot of Windows shutdown problems that cause restart problems. Here are two links

<a href="http://www.aumha.org/a/shutdown.htm" target="_blank">http://www.aumha.org/a/shutdown.htm</a> (pre XP)
<a href="http://www.aumha.org/a/shtdwnxp.htm" target="_blank">http://www.aumha.org/a/shtdwnxp.htm</a> (XP)

*I can't vouch* for the information there but the site has been recommended by others on Windows newsgroups.

Out of curiosity, is the hard drive light on when the machine has "frozen"? If so, leave it alone and see if it ever boots.
My machine for some unexplained reason does this on occasion.
